A 33-year-old Modesto man who was caught speeding on the freeway led Ceres Police on a high-speed chase into Modesto on Sunday evening where he was ultimately arrested.

Freddy Pineda, 33, of Modesto was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for evading police in a vehicle and a warrant for driving on a license that was suspended for DUI.

The chase began at approximately 10:54 p.m., when Ceres Police Officer Ian Perry was in the area of Hatch Road near Highway 99 when he spotted a black Honda Civic speeding excessively in a northbound freeway lane. Officer Perry gave chase and caught up to Pineda’s car near the Kansas Road exit and initiated a traffic stop. Officer Perry approached the vehicle on foot but Pineda fled and a pursuit was initiated. Due to the reckless nature of Pineda’s driving, the pursuit was terminated. An investigation determined that Pineda’s car was parked at the In-N-Out on Pelandale Avenue in Modesto. When it was confirmed that the registered owner was the same man Officer Perry had observed driving it, an arrest was made by Officer Perry with other officers.
