A 60-year-old Grayson man was arrested during a Tuesday, Jan. 13 vehicle stop in Ceres after he was found with suspected cocaine. Efrain Ortiz also was wanted on three drunken driving arrest warrants.

At 2:03 a.m., Officer Angel Diaz was patrolling the area of Whitmore and Louise avenues when he stopped Ortiz driving a Toyota Camry for vehicle code violations. The driver provided a false name to Officer Diaz but inside the vehicle officers located indicia for Ortiz, revealing his true identity.

During a search of Ortiz, Officer Diaz located a white powdery substance consistent with cocaine in Ortiz’s front pocket.

A records check revealed Ortiz had three arrest warrants on separate DUI charges. Ortiz was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for falsely identifying himself to the police, possession of a controlled substance and three warrants.
