A 63-year-old Ceres man was arrested on drug charges after someone saw him using drugs in a car inside the Walmart parking lot on Thursday morning.

Officer Brian Petersen was rolling through the Walmart parking lot at 10:30 a.m. when he was flagged down by a citizen who reported seeing David Clayton, 63, of Ceres, inside his car and using drugs.

Clayton confessed to the officer that he had a “rig,” a term for a hypodermic syringe. During a search, a clear plastic baggy containing suspected tar heroin was found in the rear pocket of Clayton’s pants. A glass pipe with drug residue was also located.

Clayton was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance.
