A 51-year-old Modesto man was arrested on drug charges behind the AM/PM on Hatch Road after police checked out some loiterers who have been known to hang out there.

The store owner spoke to police about the continual problem so Officer Mathew Myers rolled by at 8:34 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 and found a white Chevrolet pickup parked at the rear of the business with four people loitering around it. They were all detained for loitering. The truck belonged to Ronnie Henley of Modesto who gave consent for a search. In an eyeglass case on the  seat Myers found a plastic baggy containing suspected methamphetamine and a glass pipe used for smoking methaphetamine.

After he was arrested, Henley became upset about his vehicle being towed and began hitting his head against the patrol car window. To prevent Henley from injuring himself he was removed and continued to be combative, kicking at officers and trying to throw himself to the ground.  Henley was placed in a restraint device to keep him from harming themselves or others.

Henley was booked for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
