On probation and unlicensed to drive Paul Mendoza, 36, of Modesto was pulled over Friday evening by Ceres Police for texting and driving on Mitchell Road only for the officer to find him in possession of illegal drugs.

At 9:55 p.m., Officer Matt Johnson stopped Mendoza’s car and searched the car where he found marijuana, and possible methamphetamine and psychedelic mushrooms.

Mendoza was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of psychedelic mushrooms and transportation/sales of a controlled substance.
