Drugs found in man's trunk

A Monday traffic stop at Hackett Road and West Avenue became anything but routine when a police canine sniffed drugs in the trunk, which yielded five pounds of methamphetamine.

Officer Julio Amador made the 8:10 p.m. traffic stop on Joseph Mar, 46, of Ceres, and allowed his canine Tyson to walk around the car sniffing for narcotics. Tyson alerted on the truck area. When it was popped open for a search the drugs were found.

Mar was unwilling to reveal where he received the drugs. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and transportation of a controlled substance for sales.
