DUI arrest made after drive-thru
Ceres Cop Car

Jesse Ghormley, 53, of Ceres, was arrested for drunken driving on Saturday evening after he allegedly hit the vehicle in front of him while in the Jack in the Box drive-thru lane on Hatch Road.

Police were called about the crash at 10:56 p.m. Officer Ross Bays interviewed Ghormley, driver of a green Dodge pickup, who admitted he may have bumped the car in front of him. However, the officer smelled alcohol on Ghormley's breath and detected slurred speech and bloodshot watery eyes. Ghormley said he had been drinking starting around 1 p.m. at which time he had drank five 16-ounce beers. After field sobriety tests, Officer Bays believed that Ghormley was too impaired to drive and arrested him for DUI. Ghormley requested to take a breath test and the results were a 0.21 percent Blood Alcohol Content, nearly three times the legal limit.
