DUI suspect crashes into gas meter

A 27-year-old Ceres driver was arrested on DUI charges Thursday morning after he ran his car into the gas meter of his home in the 3500 block of Larian Way.

The crash occurred at 1:08 a.m. while Gurjeet Singh was pulling into his driveway. Gas was leaking from the meter and the Ceres Fire Department was called out to secure the meter. Officer Jesus Salinas suspected Singh had been drinking so he had him complete several field sobriety tests which indicated he was intoxicated. Singh had a blood alcohol level of 0.17 percent at the time of his arrest.

Singh was booked for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage with a blood alcohol level above .08 percent.
