Elderly man assaulted
Ceres Cop Car

Police are looking for the suspects who beat up 72-year-old Juan Villegas who was taking a walk in the 3700 block of Blaker Road near Don Pedro Park at around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Villegas was kicked or punched in the face and head by multiple suspects. Because of his injuries, Mr. Villegas could only provide limited details of the incident. Mr. Villegas was transported to an area hospital where he received treatment for his injuries over three days.

After being released from the hospital, the victim recalled men going through his pockets while he was on the ground after being assaulted. His memory of the incident is still vague but it appears the motive of the attack may have been robbery.

This is the second incident in 45 days involving assaults of elderly males in Ceres. Police do not believe the cases are related. Investigators are following up on leads and looking to the community for help in identifying the suspects. Those with information regarding the assault are urged to contact Ceres Police Detective Carlos Quiroz at 538-5638.
