An officer who noticed that registration tags on a license plate were expired ended up arresting its driver for auto theft on Wednesday evening, Nov. 28.

At 10:35 p.m. Officer Jesus Salinas was patrolling the Walmart parking lot and came across a green Honda Civic in the parking lot with the expired tags. According to Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Yotsuya, Salinas ran the license plate and discovered that the vehicle had been reported in Turlock. Officer Salinas stopped driver Tony Robin, 38, of Turlock and arrested him for grand theft auto.
