A 32-year-old Modesto man who was driving through Ceres was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 28 after he tried to flee from the officer.

At 8:57 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Roger Khuon was patrolling the area of Service and Farm Supply roads when he attempted to stop the driver of a Acura TL for vehicle code violations. Rafael Maldonado, 32, of Modesto failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit ended when Maldonado pulled over in the 5400 block of Morgan Road and surrendered.

While arresting Maldonado for evading police in a vehicle they suspected he was under the influence of alcohol, prompting a DUI investigation. As a result Maldonado was charged with DUI. A breath sample indicated that he was three times over the legal limit to drive.

Maldonado had a license suspended for a prior DUI.

Maldonado was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of evading police, DUI and driving on a suspended license.
