An early Tuesday morning fight in the 1300 block of Nadine Avenue in Ceres ended with the arrest of a Turlock man who is charged with resisting arrest.

At 1:43 a.m. Ceres police were called about three men fighting with sticks in front of a house. The reporting party said at least one of the men was on his way to get a gun or knife.

Officer Freddie Ortiz arrived and threw a spotlight on one of the subjects who immediately began running off. Ortiz gave chase as Gabriel Hardyrecio, 21, of Turlock, jumped over the first fence but caught him after jumping a second fence. Hardyrecio refused to comply with orders to show his hands but was ultimately handcuffed. He told the officer that he ran because he was "tired of going to jail" but was charged with obstructing or delaying an officer and violation of probation.

As police were on scene, an injured man wearing a T-shirt and boxers walked up. The man was intoxicated and bore superficial cuts to his arms, hands and feet and refused to say what happened. He was not arrested but was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
