Fight with shots fired disrupts Denny's
Ceres Cop Car

An altercation with shots fired disrupted the 24-hour Denny's restaurant on Herndon Road early Sunday morning, Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry reported.

Police were dispatched at 2:13 a.m. about a large fight and shots fired outside the business. When they arrived officers found numerous people standing in and out of the business. A physical fight took place in the waiting area and spilled out into the parking lot. Once outside, one of the men fetched a firearm from his car and fired off one or two rounds. Nobody was hit but the incident made everybody frantic, said Chris Perry. The parties involved took off before police arrived.

Witnesses on scene did not have much to offer in the way of substantive clues on identities.

Management closed the restaurant for a while until the morning came.

No shell casings were found and there was no evidence that the bullets struck anything.
