Freeway chase ends up going between closed Faire booths
Ceres Cop Car

The drivers of two vehicles involved in a high-speed chase were arrested early Sunday morning as they were seen gunning down Fourth Street between booths set up for the Ceres Street Faire.

Volunteers working security detail called police at 2:14 a.m. after seeing the cars speeding down Fourth Street past the booths that were up for the Sunday part of the Faire.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jose Berber said the Modesto Police and California Highway Patrol took over the case after the cars were stopped at Fifth Street and El Camino Avenue.

Berber said the incident happened when the two cars had sideswiped each other as they were getting onto the southbound Highway 99 onramp in Modesto. One of the drivers accelerated and chased the other until they got off in downtown Ceres.
