A brand-new Honda was ditched Sunday morning after its driver drove into a parked vehicle at 2040 Travesia Lane and then a tree during a hit and run getaway.

Police were called to the residence at 12:30 a.m. after witnesses said a white Honda ran into a Dodge van parked in a driveway and then hit a tree as it left the scene. Witnesses said the car was so new that it had paper dealer license plates.

The van sustained moderate damage.

Later in the morning the damaged Honda was located parked next to the apartment complex at Vineyard Apartments at 1625 Richland Avenue.

The vehicle was towed for evidence as the investigation continues.
