A man whose breath sample indicated that he was over twice the level of alcohol in his body to legally drive, was arrested in Ceres late Sunday – after he initially failed to pull over for the officer.
Ceres Police Sgt. Aaron Pinon was patrolling the area of Hatch Road and Payne Avenue at 11:37 p.m. when he attempted to stop David Cornejo, 45, of Modesto in a Chevrolet Silverado for vehicle code violations. Cornejo failed to stop and a slow speed pursuit continued until Cornejo pulled into the parking lot of the Vineyard Apartments complex at 1625 Richland Avenue where a high-risk stop was conducted. Cornejo was removed from the vehicle and officers detected signs that he was under the influence of alcohol. Officer Eric Garcia conducted a DUI investigation which ended in Cornejo’s arrest and booking into the county jail for DUI and evading police.
