Two teenage boys who were stopped for jaywalking and nearly causing an accident were subsequently arrested as suspects of a prior burglary in Hughson.

At 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, an officer saw a 16-year-old Denair teen and a 15-year-old transient boy jaywalking across Whitmore Avenue near Central Avenue. A vehicle had to swerve to avoid hitting the boys. The officer stopped the pedestrians and the 15-year-old appeared nervous and was trying to hide something in his front sweatshirt pocket. A search yielded a glass jar containing marijuana.

A records check indicated that the boys were runaways and suspects in a residential burglary in Hughson. Sheriff's deputies arrested them and booked them into Juvenile Hall on charges of burglary.
