A 36-year-old Keyes man was arrested Dec. 9 by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit for lewd acts with a child.

The victim in the case was under the age of 14 and reported the abuse, saying that it had occurred over a long period of time. Jaspal Singh had arranged to meet with the minor, and undercover detectives intercepted him in the parking lot of Pitman High School in Turlock.

During an interview with detective, Singh admitted to the allegations. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges including committing lewd acts with a child under 14 years of age, communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sex crime, and arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual purposes.

Detectives with the Special Victim’s Unit requested a bail enhancement, and Singh is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
