A 30-year-old Turlock driver was arrested in Ceres Thursday morning after the felon was discovered possessing a loaded handgun in the car.

At 8:33 a.m. Officer Alex Ochoa spotted the car driven by Kenneth Rideout because of expired registration and displaying a 2019 registration tab even though the registration had expired in 2018. Rideout initially didn’t stop, making a turn onto Marazzi Lane and traveling past several residences before finally pulling over in the 1600 block.

Rideout got out of the car and began walking to the patrol car so Officer Ochoa repeatedly told him to stop and return but the driver refused to comply. Rideout then began yelling to occupants in the house he stopped in front of to “come out.”

As Rideout was being handcuffed he attempted to pull away from Officer Ochoa but was eventually subdued and placed in the back seat of the patrol vehicle.

During a search of the car, a .25-caliber semi-auto handgun was located under the driver’s seat.

Rideout was arrested and faces felony charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a loaded firearm in public and forgery of vehicle registration.
