A 23-year-old Ceres man was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated during a Monday traffic stop.

At 12:09 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Eric Garcia was patrolling the area of Pine and Harold streets when he stopped Maciel Munoz in a Toyota Prius for vehicle code violations. Officer Garcia immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Munoz’s breath which resulted in a DUI investigation. Munoz underwent a series of field sobriety tests which were performed in a manner consistent with someone under the influence of alcohol.

Munoz was arrested for DUI and provided breath samples over three times the legal limit. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI.
