A 49-year-old Modesto man who was illegally camping in front of a closed business in the 1700 of Mitchell Road was arrested early Tuesday, Jan. 6 on drug charges.

At 1:15 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Angel Diaz was patrolling the area when he contacted Scott Riddle and learned through a routine records check that he had a felony warrant for his arrest related to the possession of narcotics. Riddle was arrested for the warrant and during a body search, Officer Diaz located a baggy containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Riddle was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the felony warrant and possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions.
