Loitering leads to drug arrest

A 39-year-old Ceres man was arrested on drug charges when a Ceres Police officer checked on why he was loitering around a closed Hatch Road business.

Ceres Police Officer Angel Diaz was on patrol the 1500 block of Hatch Road at 12:35 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, when he came across Clifford Harvey who appeared to be loitering. Officer Diaz contacted Harvey, and through a records check, learned that he was on searchable probation. Officer Diaz searched Harvey and located a glass pipe and a plastic bag containing a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Harvey was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions.
