An early Friday car stop for expired car registration ended with the arrest of a driver for possession of drugs for sale.

The arrest came after Officer Christian Izquierdo noted the expired registration at 2:30 a.m. on a car moving down Herndon Road. He stopped the car and found that driver David Owen, 59, of Ceres, had a suspended driver’s license. During a search of the car, a large amount of heroin and a smaller amount of methamphetamine were located as well as scales, plastic baggies and other evidence of sales.
