Ceres Cop Car

A man who is accused of trying to cash a "washed" check at Valley First Credit Union on Mitchell Road was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Bank officials called police at 3:48 p.m., stating that a man was there trying to cash a check which was altered by removing ink and writing over the original writing. Employees stalled to give police time to get to the bank as the man, Shawn Frantzich, 46, of Ceres, was pounding on the security glass demanding that they hurry up on his request.

Police walked in and arrested Frantzich at the teller's window without incident. He was charged on check fraud.
