A Sunday evening traffic crash in the 1800 block of Hatch Road led to the arrest of one of the drivers for drunken driving and drug possession.
When Ceres Police Officer Nick Welsh arrived on the scene of the 10:13 p.m. collision he found 24-year-old Modesto driver Gustavo Jaimes still sitting in his car and apparently intoxicated.
Officer Welsh smelled alcohol on Jaimes and administered a field sobriety test which was performed in a manner consistent with someone being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
Jaimes was arrested for DUI, and later submitted a breath sample that showed he was double the legal limit for an adult to drive. During a search, Officer Welsh located a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. Jaimes was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI and possession of a controlled substance.
