Man arrested inside stolen car

Officer Justin Canatsy was on patrol in the 1600 block of Evans Road at 7:28 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24 when he spotted a suspicious looking white Honda parked in a dirt lot. When he ran the license plate it came back as stolen. When the officer set up surveillance on the car, the head of a man popped up in view inside the car. That's when Officer Canatsy made a high-risk traffic stop on the car and arrest Ruben Agundez, 31, of Ceres.

Agundez was arrested with incident and charged with auto theft.

In about two hours later, at 9:47 a.m., Officer Canatsy was advised that a victim wanted to report her stolen car but she had just seen it traveling eastbound on Evans Road. Canatsy found the vehicle in the 1700 block of Herndon Road. He made another high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested driver Louis Hernandez, 32, of Ceres, on charges of auto theft.
