A 28-year-old Modesto man was arrested on Hatch Road Tuesday morning, May 14 after he admitted stealing a $129 power tool from Home Depot.

The store’s loss prevention officer called police at around 10:22 a.m. after they saw Victor Nazar steal a Rigid power tool and leave on foot. He was spotted atop the Hatch Road overpass when Officer Jon Blount arrived and found the suspect.

Nazar claimed that he had paid for the tool but was unable to produce a receipt. After confronting Nazar with video evidence showing him walking out of the store without paying for it, Nazar admitted to the theft. 

He was booked for shoplifting.
