A 31-year-old man was arrested last week after he allegedly stole a pair of shoes from WSS Shoes on Hatch Road as he threatened someone with a knife.

A 1:17 p.m. robbery alarm on Wednesday, Jan. 5 sent officers scrambling to the store while a caller stated that the suspect had taken a pair of shoes while holding a knife in a threatening manner as he was confronted about stealing. The suspect, later identified as Joseph Lozano, 31, was followed to an area near the 7-Eleven at Herndon Road and Bystrum Avenue. He was arrested by Officer Krandall Vandagriff and the knife was recovered. Lozano was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

Lozano was positively identified by the victim as the robber. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was booked into the Stanislaus County jail on charges of robbery, brandishing a weapon, making terrorist threats and possession of an illegal substance.

The Ceres Courier previously published the incorrect name of the suspect as  supplied by the Ceres Police Department. We apologize for the error.
