An employee of Stiles Custom Metal at 1885 Kinser Road detained a man who was seen jumping over a chain-link fence into a yard where metal is stored on Thursday evening.

The quick-thinking employee locked the yard to keep the suspect, Daniel Campbell, 31, of Ceres, from leaving until police could arrive after he reported the trespassing at 8:41 p.m. Campbell tried to escape by scaling the fence but was pulled down.

Police arrived and arrested Campbell for trespassing. The department has had prior dealings with Campbell who has been involved in thefts.
