A high-risk traffic stop on Highway 99 was made on a driver who allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend moments prior on Saturday evening, June 6.

Police received a call at 10:19 p.m. from someone who said a man with a gun was outside of a home in the 1300 block of Sausalito. At the same time, a woman inside the house called police to report her ex-boyfriend was threatening to kill her. Officers arrived but the suspect, Eleazar Ortiz, 21, of Ceres, had already left. His car was spotted on Hatch Road and followed to southbound Highway 99. When backup units arrived, a high-risk traffic stop was made on the freeway south of Hatch Road. Ortiz surrendered without incident.

Ortiz has been charged with making terrorist death threats, weapons violations and committing a felony while on bail.
