Man driving with headlights off gets arrested for loaded gun in car

A 56-year-old Modesto man who was pulled over for driving in the darkness with his headlights off was arrested in a Tuesday, July 8 traffic stop and found with a loaded handgun in his car.

At approximately 2:56 a.m., Ceres Police Kyle Officer Hatcher was patrolling the area of Mitchell Road and Highway 99 when he saw a silver-colored Ford sedan traveling without its lights. He stopped the driver, Michael Anderson and developed probable cause to search the car and located the loaded firearm. Upon further investigation the officer learned that Anderson is a felon and legally prohibited from possessing a gun. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
