Police arrested a combative man dressed only in boxer shorts at a fast food restaurant on Hatch Road after he tried kicking and punching officers on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14.

Personnel at Carl's Jr. on Hatch Road called police at 4:36 p.m. about a man who was only wearing green boxer shorts and kept turning on the outside water faucet to let it run while refusing to leave. Officer Eric Gallegos arrived and found transient Peter Boven, 52, and recognized him from prior encounters and knew him to be unfriendly to police officers. When Boven saw Officer Gallegos he took on a fighting stance and challenged him.

A second officer, Miguel Villalobos arrived and both attempted to handcuff Boven who attempted to punch and kick both officers. Police used baton strikes to Boven's leg, and tackled him to the ground. He was arrested for trespassing, resisting assault and threatening officers.
