Officer Krandall Vandagriff was patrolling in the area of El Dorado Drive and Standford Avenue on Tuesday morning, July 5 when he saw a man who appeared to be limping.
He decided to check on William Sallee, 52, of Ceres, and made a stop at 2:18 a.m. Sallee said he had a bad leg but he also had a felony warrant issued by Merced County for transportation of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property.
Once he was booked into the County Jail, it was learned why he was walking the way he did. Jail staff searched him and found a glass meth pipe stored inside his thigh and he was trying not to break it. He received an additional charge of bringing contraband into the County Jail, which is a felony.
