A 33-year-old Ceres man who was wanted for two felony charges was spotted by an office on Friday and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
At 10:54 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza was patrolling Don Pedro Road near Urmi Avenue when he spotted Casey Franklin, 35, of Ceres, walking. Officer Souza knew about Franklin’s warrants and attempted to stop him but he bolted, hopping fences in the residential neighborhood. With the help of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department and the Modesto Police Department, a perimeter was established. Franklin was found hiding in a rolling trash receptacle in a backyard and was arrested.
Franklin was booked on the warrants for assault and probation violations, a misdemeanor warrant for theft. He also was charged with resisting arrest and violating parole.
