A 45-year-old Modesto man wanted on a robbery charge was arrested Friday evening after he gave a Ceres Police officer a fake name and then tried to run off.

At 7:51 p.m., Officer Tyler Wilson was patrolling the area of Latimer and Anthony avenues when he spotted a familiar face – that of Romaldo Vasquez, 45, of Modesto, who had an outstanding felony warrant for robbery. Officer Wilson approached Vasquez who provided a false name and immediately attempted to flee. Officer Wilson was able to control Vasquez until additional units arrived on scene.

Vasquez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the felony warrant and new charges of resisting arrest and providing a false name to police.
