A 43-year-old Ceres man was arrested Tuesday morning, May 26 after he allegedly caused problems inside of Voyager’s Cove Mobile Home Park at 2845 E. Hatch Road and armed himself with a wooden stick.

Police later arrested Michael Bailey, 43, of Ceres, after he was found with suspected methamphetamine. Bailey was booked for making criminal threats, violating probation and possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Yotsuya said Bailey, who did not live in the park, came into the park on a bicycle prior to 9:51 a.m. and attempted to steal recyclables from a porch of one of the units. When the owner told him to leave, Bailey challenged the victim to fight him, and held a wooden stick over his head as if he was going to strike. When Bailey realized the police had been called, he fled.

Officer Matthew Myers responded and did not find Bailey. Approximately three hours later, a witness spotted Bailey back in the park and called police. Officer Christian Izquierdo arrested Bailey at Angie Avenue and Adrian Road and detained him.
