A 43-year-old Ceres man who had warrants for his warrant and stopped for loitering in front of closed businesses was arrested early Friday.
Ceres Police Officer Kevin Gallenkamp was patrolling the 3000 block of Service Road at approximately 1:54 a.m., when he spotted Charles Overturf, 43, of Ceres loitering in front of several closed businesses. Overturf began walking away from Officer Gallenkamp, defying his orders to stop. Through a records check, it was determined Overturf had a felony warrant for his arrest related to the destruction of jail property and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest related to municipal codes violations.
As Officer Gallenkamp attempted to arrest Overturf, he defied orders to put his hands behind his back so that he was placed in handcuffs. Overturf was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for the warrants, resisting arrest and a probation violation.
