A Saturday evening crash at Mitchell Road and Whitmore Avenue was blamed on an intoxicated Merced man who was later arrested for DUI.

A citizen called Ceres Police at 8:46 p.m. to report an orange-colored Mustang being driven recklessly leading up to the collision.

Officer Kiashira Ortiz found driver Carlos Lomeli Jr., 31, of Merced, who appeared to be intoxicated. After a series of field sobriety tests, Lomeli was arrested for DUI. He was not injured but had to be medically cleared at the hospital before he was booked for DUI, but not before he gave at the time.
