Meth found on driver with expired tags
Ceres Cop Car

A 31-year-old Ceres driver was arrested Tuesday morning, May 2 after a Ceres Police officer noticed the expired vehicle registration tag and learned drugs were inside his car.

At 8:10 a.m. Officer Matt Berlier was driving by Richland Liquors when he saw Jacob Pacheco, 31, of Ceres, go from his car into the store. The officer waited for Pacheco to come back to the car to discuss the expired tag and learned he could be searched because he's on probation. Berlier asked Pacheco to sit on the front bumper of the patrol car but Pacheco sat on the sidewalk instead. That's when Berlier noticed Pacheco appeared to be hiding something behind his back. It proved to be a small bag of methamphetamine. Berlier struggled with a resistant Pacheco to place him in handcuffs.

Pacheco was booked into jail for possession of methamphetamine, destruction of evidence, resisting or obstructing a police officer and for violating his probation.
