Modesto Police ask for help in identifying Mancini Park stabber
Crime-Scene-Tape

A small altercation between kids at a soccer game at Mancini Park Sunday resulted in adults getting into a fight that led to a man being stabbed.

The knife cut into the man twice but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Modesto Police officers responded to the 2:30 p.m. reports of a fight at the park just north of Ceres and south of River Road and en route heard that someone was stabbed.

Modesto Police spokeswoman Sharon Bear said the stabbing occurred after the fight subsided and the suspect first walked away but returned to stab the man twice from behind. He then fled the scene.

At some point, the fight led to the damage of a woman’s vehicle caused by someone in the party.

Modesto Police ask the public for help in identifying the suspect, who left in a blue Chevrolet truck. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by texting “StanCS” to 738447, calling 1-866-602-7463 or 209-521-4636. Tips can also be submitted online at stancrimetips.org. Reports may be given anonymously.
