Motorcyclist, 23, arrested after leading Ceres Police on pursuit

A 23-year-old Ceres man faces charges of evading a peace officer and resisting arrest following an incident that occurred Saturday morning.

At approximately 11:16 a.m., Officer Alfredo Berriatua was patrolling in the area of South Ninth Street near Pecos Avenue when he tried to stop Akvar Toledo Farias for a vehicle code violation as he was riding a Honda motorcycle. Farias accelerated and fled onto southbound Highway 99. The pursuit ended when Farias attempted to stop on the shoulder of the freeway, lost control, and tipped the motorcycle over. Farias jumped off and was arrested. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
