A police pursuit that started in Ceres and ended at a Hilmar house on Thursday morning resulted in a motorcyclist’s arrest.
Police would find out that Vernon Sanders, 35, of Modesto was riding a stolen Kawasaki.
The chase began at 2 a.m., when Ceres Police Officer Angel Murillo was patrolling the area of Mitchell Road and Nicholas Street and attempted to stop Sanders for vehicle code violations. Sanders then accelerated onto southbound Highway 99 in an attempt to get away.
Sanders finally exited the freeway in Turlock and rode into Hilmar where he went into an orchard near the 8700 block of Lander Avenue. A police canine tracked Sanders and led officers to a home in the 19800 block of August Avenue where he surrendered and was arrested.
Sanders was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of evading officers in a vehicle, reckless driving, auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
