An officer’s suspicions about a woman trying to distance herself from a Chevy Malibu early Wednesday morning in Ceres led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Patterson woman.

At 12:20 a.m., Officer Charles Rushing saw a white Chevy Malibu parked in the McDonald’s parking lot in the 1300 block of Hatch Road. The woman in the driver’s seat, Diana Nava, got out of the car and began walking away. A records check showed the vehicle was reported stolen in Newman.

Nava was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center where on charges of stealing a vehicle and possession of stolen property.
