Officer bitten during pursuit arrest
Ceres Cop Car

Ceres Police Officer Justin Canatsy was bitten by a suspect he was arresting Saturday evening after a short vehicle pursuit.

Canatsy was patrolling in the area of the 700 block of Anthony Avenue at 9:21 p.m. when he attempted to pull over driver Frankie Coronado, 31, of Modesto, for a vehicle code violation. Coronado did not pull over and continued driving for about three minutes before finally pulling over. Police conducted a high risk traffic stop, commanding Coronado to exit the vehicle at gunpoint. He failed to comply so officers physically removed him from the car. During the process, the suspect bit Canatsy on the right forearm drawing blood.

He was arrested and charged with evading police, resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer.
