Two Modesto residents face multiple charges after being involved in a short police chase on Ceres streets Thursday morning.

In the car, Ceres police found two firearms, ammunition, narcotics, counterfeit currency, and printing material for counterfeit currency.

The incident began at 9:50 a.m. when someone flagged down a Ceres officer at Lavon Lane and Myrtlewood Drive about a suspicious vehicle parked in the area. The car was located and sitting inside were two persons, one of them being Daniel Turnbough, 27, of Modesto who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. As Turnbough was ordered to step out of the vehicle, he decided to speed away as the officer followed.

Turnbough and 32-year-old passenger Samantha Marcum Modesto ran from the vehicle but were quickly located with the help of bystanders and arrested.

Both Turnbough and Marcum were either booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of evading a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, being a felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, counterfeit currency, giving false information to police, outstanding warrant, probation violation, and other charges.
