A 43-year-old Modesto man was arrested Wednesday morning, Nov. 21 for warrants and drug possession.

At 9:53 a.m. Ceres Police Officer Nick Welsh was patrolling around the Starbucks at 1427 Herndon Avenue when he saw David Faught Jr. approach occupants of a car to ask for money.  The occupants looked toward Welsh as if to signal for him to intervene.

Officer Welsh asked Faught if he needed help and was told that he was just asking for coffee money. A record check indicated that Faught had several outstanding misdemeanor warrants for his arrest issued by Modesto Police and was arrested. When searched, police found a plastic bindle containing a white crystal-like substance in his pants pocket. This substance was consistent with methamphetamine and weighed 1.7 grams.

Faught was booked for drug possession and the outstanding warrants.
