Richard Montoya, 48, of Ceres, was arrested for violating parole after a struggle with a Ceres officer on Tuesday morning, Nov. 10.

At 7:04 a.m. Officer Ross Bays stopped a suspicious man behind the Dollar Tree store on Hatch Road. While he was performing a pat down search, Montoya told Bays he had a weapon and tried to pull away. The suspect was able to break free briefly but was apprehended by Officer Bays who had to struggle to take him into custody. Montoya was the subject of an arrest warrant for a parole violation. He now faces an added charge of resisting arrest.

No weapon was found on Montoya.
