Christopher Clements has been identified and arrested as the suspect in the July 29 Home Depot robbery in Ceres.

Clements was identified by multiple people who recognized his photo taken from a surveillance camera posted on the Ceres Police Facebook, Crime Stoppers and other social media sites. Police arrested him on Wednesday at the Motel 6 in Turlock where he had been staying. Clements was booked on robbery charges and for violating the terms of his parole and is being held in the County Jail without bail.

Police say that at approximately 3 p.m. Clements walked into the Home Depot store on Hatch Road and took a Milwaukee M18 Drill Hammer kit from the store display. He reached into his pocket and retrieved a magnetic key which he used to remove the security device from the drill. A member of the Home Depot loss prevention team approached the suspect and told him to drop the merchandise. The suspect then hit the victim with the drill as he ran from the store.

Clements ran to an awaiting 2003 Red Ford Focus, which fled westbound on Hatch Road toward Herndon Avenue.

The driver of the Ford Focus was described as a white man in his 50's, bald head and long white goatee.
