Police are investigating the shooting of a Ceres man who turned up with a bullet wound at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto on Saturday afternoon.

Hospital emergency room personnel called Ceres Police at 3:27 p.m. to say a 19-year-old Ceres boy had suffered a gunshot wound to a lower leg and said the shooting occurred during a Ceres robbery attempt. The victim, who police said was "extremely uncooperative," told police he was shot in the area of the AM/PM at Hatch and Richland. He said he was approached by a man with a gun who demanded money and shot him in the leg. Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. James Yandell said officers were unable to find any evidence of a shooting in the area and there were no reports of a gunshot.
