A 20-year-old Patterson man was arrested early Sunday after he thought he could outrun Ceres Police trying to stop him for violating the vehicle code.

The chase began at 1:51 a.m. when Officer Jordan Justice was patrolling the area of Mitchell and Service roads and saw driver Josiah Flores make an illegal move in a Dodge Charger. When the red lights were turned on, Flores accelerated northbound Highway 99 into Modesto.

Ceres Police discontinued the pursuit but Flores was apprehended in Livermore with the help of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Air Unit and the California Highway Patrol.

Flores was arrested and brought back to the Ceres Police Department. He was later booked at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for reckless driving and evading a police officer.
